Present Situation and Analysis of Cemented Carbide Tools in China

In 2012, China's cemented carbide output was 23500 tons, the sales revenue of the cemented carbide industry was 20.9 billion billion yuan, the cemented carbide export was nearly 5000 tons, the export earned more than 0.36 billion US dollars, and the output of cemented carbide deep-processed products reached 6600 tons, accounting for 1/3 of the total alloy output.

By 2014, China's cemented carbide output will reach 27020 tons, and the industrial sales value will reach 30.686 billion yuan. Cemented carbide is mainly used in cutting tools, mining tools, molds and high pressure and high temperature cavity, among which cutting tools and mining tools accounted for 33 and 25 of the application of cemented carbide respectively.
Cemented carbide tools need to connect cemented carbide and steel substrate by brazing. The current welding process is mainly induction brazing. According to statistics, the number of induction welding machines used in the industry exceeds 500000. However, China's cemented carbide tools have the problem of disconnection between alloy production and tool production. Before 2002, the cemented carbide tool industry relied on imports of 70 brazing materials, which greatly restricted the development of China's cemented carbide tools. By 2014, there were more than 3000 manufacturers of cutting tools and mining tools in China, the sales output value of cutting tool industry exceeded 35 billion yuan, the sales output value of mining tool industry exceeded 20 billion yuan, the demand for brazing materials for cemented carbide tools exceeded 1 billion yuan, and the consumption of brazing flux exceeded 50000 tons.
At present, opportunities and challenges coexist in China's cemented carbide tool manufacturing industry, but overall, favorable factors for the development of the industry occupy a dominant position.
